Uber Technologies and Loblaw Companies have announced a nationwide partnership to bring on-demand grocery delivery to customers across Canada. Leveraging this partnership, shoppers can now order groceries, health, and beauty items from Loblaw banners, including Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills, Maxi, and others, directly through the Uber Eats app.
To perpetuate the membership, Uber and Loblaw are offering exclusive deals to first-time users and Uber One members. Klaas Knieriem, Head of Retail for Uber Eats Canada, said the goal is to “Uber Eats is giving Canadians more grocery options to choose from and making it easier to get anything they need delivered, whether that’s quick ingredients for dinner, groceries for the week or important health and wellness needs.” Lauren Steinberg, Chief Digital Officer at Loblaw, added, “By bringing our grocery, beauty, and health products to Uber’s marketplace, we’re making it easier for customers to get quality products from the brands they trust, delivered right to their door.”
The move expands Uber’s presence in the grocery sector while boosting Loblaw’s digital convenience. Other than that, according to Bloomberg, Uber is also in talks with Turkish delivery platform Getir (for a partnership), reflecting its growing global ambitions in on-demand retail.
