Reaching an important milestone in the digital transformation, Kroger Co. and Sprouts Farmers are the first retailers to test Instacart’s new AI platform. Kroger announced that it will incorporate Instacart’s Cart Assistant, an AI-powered shopping tool (for its iOS users) that uses natural language prompts to help customers plan meals, find new products, and create carts. Additionally, in order to improve personalization and product discovery, Sprouts will also test the technology throughout its digital stores.
Chris Rogers, CEO of Instacart, said, “These new AI solutions mark the next chapter in our enterprise story – empowering retailers to turn generative and agentic AI into a true competitive edge. In an era of rapid technological change, we’re helping grocers of all sizes not only keep pace, but also compete – and win – in an AI-powered world.”
With the AI platform’s recipe ideas and immediate product suggestions, shoppers organize their groceries faster and with greater ease. Conversely, it offers enhanced understanding of consumer choices and improved operational effectiveness for grocery stores.
